Our class, P7B were making and studying bags. We looked at what the handles were made of and how they were joined to the bag.
First the whole class chose a bag and studied how the handles were joined or what they were made of. Some people had bags made from card, nylon and paper. We found lots of different types of materials of the handles including, metal, string card or paper and pipe cleaners. After we had found how they were made we had to take the bag apart to see where all the folds in the bag were and how the bag was put together, some bags were joined together by glue, tape or Velcro.
Once we had studied the handles and bag we got to make our own bags. We started of with making a practice bag, where some people ended up having a hole in the bottom, it was quite funny! After everyone had practiced we started the real thing. Some people made wine bags others party bags and football bags. Most people made their bag handles using string, but others used pipe cleaners or card.
We kept a sheet of paper that told us what we wanted our bags to look like at the start then, then we made note of any changes in the bag. Everyone had fun making the bag and designing what they wanted there’s to look like.
