We have been busy working on our assembly so we’ve not had time to blog this week. 1 group saw this fancy way of showing photos. We asked Miss Bruce if she could find out how to do it. We think it looks really cool. We are going to try out some of the different transitions later to see which we like best.
At home I made a model of the Solar System out of ping pong balls, wire and a coat hanger. I enjoyed making it because it was fun and educational. I thank my mum for the brilliant idea.
We were doing research on the planet Pluto to find out more about our solar system. Here are some interesting facts:
The distance from the sun is about 5 900million km
A year is 248.6 Earth years.
It has 1 moon.
Its diameter is 2300km.
It’s the 9th planet in the solar system from the sun.
It is named after the Greek god of the underworld
The temperature is -220°C

Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun and is 4,497 million kilometres away from it. It was probably named after the Roman god of the sea whose name was
Neptune. The length of day on
Neptune is 19.2 hours and the length of year is 165 Earth years. It has 8 moons and the biggest one is called Triton. The average temperature on
Neptune is -220C which is extremely cold.
Neptune’s diameter is 50,000 km and is bigger than the Earth.
Neptune’s surface is made of gas.
Neptune has two rings which are also made of gas.

We were learning to use speech marks. We used Miss Bruce’s masks and whiteboards. We wrote what they would have said in a bubble and then we wrote them in a sentence with speech marks. We thought this was fun and interesting. It really didn’t feel like work.
At Forehill we have been learning about space. We are going to tell you some amazing facts about Saturn. Saturn is about 1,425 million Km (890 million miles) away from the Sun, putting it 6th in the solar system in order from the sun. On Earth a day is 24 hours long but on Saturn there are only ten Earth hours in a day. It takes a year for Earth to orbit the Sun, but Saturn takes 29 Earth years to orbit the sun. Saturn has 18 moons. The average temperature for Saturn is -180C.Saturn was named after the Roman god Saturn, god of agriculture. Did you know that the 3 rings around Saturn are made of thousands of smaller rings made of gas and rocks? Did you know that Saturn is mostly made up of hydrogen?
